Overwatch 2 Season 7: Halloween Special, Sombra Rework, and More

The thrilling Season 7 of Overwatch 2 is set to introduce an exciting new array of features, including modification to the character of Sombra and an array of Halloween-themed events and skins to spice up the gaming ambiance. The stage is all set for a thrilling Showdown this October, as teased by Blizzard.

Blizzard's recent blog post divulged that a Diablo IV crossover will be ushered in Overwatch when the season commences on October 10. This intriguing event, titled Trials of Sanctuary, will offer players the thrilling chance to assume roles of characters like Reinhardt, Pharah, and the newly tweaked Sombra, all dressed in their best Diablo-inspired outfits. The impeccable storyline involves Lilith Moira and her minion army, an army that includes Butcher Roadhog and Azmodan Wrecking Ball.

Previous Halloween-themed events like Junkenstein's Revenge and Wrath of the Bride are set to make a return. Additionally, there will be new challenges where players can score Battle Pass XP, Overwatch Credits, and unique Halloween cosmetics. Moreover, players will also have the opportunity to unlock new characters using Overwatch credits during the first week of October.

With 17 new Halloween-themed skins and a brand new Mythic skin up for grabs, players are in for a real treat this spooky season. However, the Halloween theme is not the only fresh feature. Characters like Sombra will be receiving a radical re-work, including a passive stealth ability and a new ability called Virus, thereby making her gameplay more exciting.

Despite the initial hiccup on the Steam platform, the Overwatch team retains a positive outlook about the things to come. Hero missions might have been canceled, but game director Aaron Keller emphasized consistently improving and adding more content to the game as the way forward. The future looks promising with the introduction of more maps, events, heroes, modes, missions, and stories, all aiming to enhance the overall gaming experience.
