Take-Two Confirms Grand Theft Auto 6 Set for Fall 2025 Launch with Strong Assurance
Take-Two has expressed "strong assurance" with regards to the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 in fall 2025. The company behind Grand Theft Auto 6, Take-Two Interactive, is "strongly assured" about the game's launch timeframe in autumn 2025.
In a recent disclosure within Take-Two's latest financial report, disclosed last week on May 17, it has been announced that the forthcoming major installment in the Grand Theft Auto saga is slated for a late 2025 debut. This announcement comes despite previous indications of postponements, following a directive from Rockstar Games for personnel to resume in-office work.
During a recent CNCB interview that Eurogamer brought to light, Take-Two's Chief Executive Officer, Strauss Zelnick, reaffirmed the 2025 launch schedule for the game, while admitting that "slippage" is common in the gaming industry. "Despite the industry's tendencies, we've narrowed our launch window as our confidence in this timeframe is solid," Zelnick conveyed.
Detailing the factors that influence the release date of a game, the CEO mentioned considerations like "the tally of glitches" albeit for GTA 6, it revolves around "crafting an unmatched experience." "Our goal is to minimize glitches in any release," remarked Zelnick. "Yet, with a landmark title that carries immense expectations like GTA 6, it's less about the glitches and more about delivering a novel experience. Rockstar Games is in pursuit of excellence, which, though subjective, is a testament to their commitment to quality."
Rockstar Games made an official announcement of GTA 6 with a cinematic trailer in December, confirming the longstanding speculation that the narrative would feature two playable characters - Lucia and Jason. The game is confirmed to be situated in the fictitious state of Leonida, bringing players back to Vice City. Rockstar has touted this new setting as "the most expansive, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto franchise yet."
Set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, there has been no indication yet of a release on PC for Grand Theft Auto 6.
