YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki Steps Down After 9 Years with Neal Mohan Taking Over

YouTube, the world's largest online video platform, is set to have a new CEO as Susan Wojcicki has announced her stepping down after nine years at the helm.

Wojcicki, who was previously a senior vice president for ad products at Google, has been with the parent company Alphabet for nearly 25 years, and will be replaced by YouTube's chief product officer, Neal Mohan.

Wojcicki, 54, said in a blog post on Thursday that she will be focusing on "family, health, and personal projects I'm passionate about," as she transitions away from the platform. During her tenure, Wojcicki has been credited with overseeing the growth of YouTube from a small startup to a global powerhouse, as well as introducing several new features such as YouTube TV and YouTube Music.

During her nine years as CEO, Wojcicki has also been the driving force behind YouTube's move to become a more family-friendly platform. This includes the introduction of YouTube Kids, a version of the platform designed specifically for children, as well as the creation of YouTube's Safety mode, which helps protect users from inappropriate content.

Mohan, who has been a part of YouTube since 2006, will be taking over from Wojcicki. He has previously served as YouTube's head of product, and is credited with helping to create the company's advertising business.

With Wojcicki leaving after nine years as CEO, YouTube is now at a crossroads. Mohan will have a difficult task ahead of him as he attempts to continue the success of the platform in a rapidly-changing digital landscape. We wish Wojcicki all the best in her future endeavors and are excited to see what Mohan brings to the table.
